Terms of Use for VeraBite

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the VeraBite mobile application and related services (collectively, the “Application” or “Service”). By downloading, installing, accessing, or using VeraBite, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Application.

1. About VeraBite

VeraBite is an informational food label analysis app that uses artificial intelligence (“AI”) to analyze food packaging, ingredients, nutrition information, allergens, and dietary preferences.

2. Medical, Allergy & AI Disclaimer

VeraBite is provided for informational purposes only. VeraBite is not a medical device, emergency service, or substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or judgment.

VeraBite does not guarantee that any scan, ingredient analysis, allergen alert, dietary flag, translation, recommendation, or nutrition result is accurate, complete, current, or suitable for your specific needs. Results may be affected by:

  • blurry or incomplete photos
  • glare, shadows, curved packaging, or obstructed labels
  • OCR errors
  • AI errors or hallucinations
  • ambiguous ingredients or formatting
  • missing “may contain” or cross-contact information
  • manufacturer recipe changes
  • regional label differences
  • outdated packaging
  • incomplete or incorrect user-entered dietary preferences

You must not rely solely on VeraBite to determine whether a product is safe for you. You are solely responsible for reviewing the physical product label, allergen statements, warnings, and manufacturer information before consuming any product.

If you have a food allergy, severe intolerance, celiac disease, diabetes, pregnancy-related dietary restriction, or any medical condition or dietary concern, you should independently verify product information and consult a qualified healthcare professional when appropriate.

3. Use at Your Own Risk

Your use of VeraBite is at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you assume full responsibility for any decision, action, or inaction you take based on information provided by the Application.

4. No Warranty

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, VeraBite is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any warranties of:

  • accuracy
  • completeness
  • reliability
  • merchantability
  • fitness for a particular purpose
  • non-infringement
  • uninterrupted availability
  • error-free performance

We do not warrant that the Service will always be available, secure, or free from bugs, interruptions, or inaccuracies.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, VeraBite, its owners, developers, affiliates, licensors, contractors, and service providers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss, injury, illness, allergic reaction, medical issue, claim, cost, data loss, business interruption, or other damage arising out of or related to:

  • your use of or inability to use the Application
  • your reliance on scan results or analysis
  • inaccuracies in AI, OCR, or label interpretation
  • third-party services or outputs
  • changes in manufacturer ingredients or labeling
  • any product you choose to consume

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

6. Apple EULA

The Application is licensed to you, not sold. Your use of VeraBite is also subject to the standard Apple End User License Agreement (EULA), unless otherwise stated in these Terms. The standard Apple EULA is available at:

If there is any conflict between these Terms and the Apple EULA, the Apple EULA will govern to the extent required by Apple.

7. License to Use the App

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use VeraBite for your personal, non-commercial use on devices you own or control, in accordance with Apple’s App Store rules.

You may not:

  • copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Application
  • reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract source code except where prohibited by law
  • use bots, scripts, automation, or scraping to abuse scans or app functionality
  • interfere with the security or operation of the Service
  • use VeraBite for unlawful, fraudulent, or misleading purposes

8. User Content and Submitted Images

You may submit food label photos and text inputs (such as dietary preferences or custom rules) to use VeraBite. You retain ownership of content you submit, but you grant us a limited right to process, transmit, analyze, and use that content as necessary to operate and improve the Service.

You represent that you have the right to submit the content you provide and that it does not violate any law or third-party rights.

Do not submit unnecessary sensitive personal, medical, financial, or identifying information in free-text fields.

9. Third-Party Services

VeraBite may rely on third-party services, including but not limited to:

  • Google Gemini / Google AI services
  • Supabase
  • RevenueCat
  • Google AdMob
  • Apple

We do not control third-party services and are not responsible for their availability, outputs, privacy practices, or actions. Your use of those services may also be subject to their own terms and policies.

10. Free Features, Ads, Referrals, and Scan Limits

VeraBite may offer both free and paid features. Free use may include scan limits, referrals, rewarded ads, or other restrictions. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue free features, scan allowances, referral programs, ad rewards, or related limits at any time.

We may also restrict or suspend usage if we believe you are abusing the Service, attempting to bypass limits, or using automation or fraud.

11. Subscriptions and Billing

VeraBite may offer optional paid subscriptions (“VeraBite Pro”) that provide premium features, higher scan limits, or other benefits.

  • Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
  • Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period at the then-current price.
  • If a free trial is offered, any unused portion of the trial will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where permitted by law.

You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your App Store account settings after purchase.

Billing, refunds, and payment processing are also subject to Apple’s applicable terms and policies.

12. Changes to the Application

We may modify, update, suspend, or discontinue any part of VeraBite at any time, including:

  • features
  • scan limits
  • subscription pricing
  • supported devices
  • model providers
  • AI behavior
  • product analysis logic

We are not liable for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

13. Termination

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to VeraBite at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you:

  • violated these Terms
  • abused the Service
  • engaged in fraud, automation, or misuse
  • created risk or legal exposure for us or other users

You may stop using VeraBite at any time by uninstalling the app.

14. Privacy

Your use of VeraBite is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and process information.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we may revise the Effective Date above and may provide additional notice where appropriate.

By continuing to use VeraBite after updated Terms become effective, you agree to the revised Terms.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of United States, without regard to conflict of law principles, except where applicable consumer protection law requires otherwise.

Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Application shall be resolved in the courts located in United States, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
